Dragon
by Jean Kenward

There was a dragon came to tea
and ate a current bun.

He said it was so tasty,
that he'd try another one!

He ate the treacle sandwiches.
He ate the lemon cake...

He ate a dish of flapjacks--
more than anyone should take.

He nibbled all the tiny things
and swallowed down the great ones,

He frightened all the early guests,
and hurried off the late ones.

He cleared the biscuits from the tin--
he never left a crumb.

If he is ever asked again
I hope he will not come!
